Arnout Colnot (1887-1983) - "Boerderij tussen bomen aan waterkant met steiger en boot"

Arnout Colnot was one of the most important painters of the Bergen school. He used thick paint, mainly green, brown, red, blue colours, madder and yellow ointment, set up with a pallet knife. Colnot was an artist who, to a great extent, had the patience and dedication to complete his work in its entirety, not to let it go until it was “finished”. The beautiful result of his work is that an always perfect painting was created. In the Bergen landscape Colnot found what he needed, and settled there permanently with his friend Filarski. Colnot was first and foremost the romantic painter, who touched on his subjects and immediately settled down with his own characteristic colours for which he became famous. The painting and frame are in good condition and without hidden defects.
