René Marie Dujardin (Antwerp, 1913-2002) was a Belgian painter, draughtsman, watercolourist and etcher. He was educated at the Academy in Antwerp and the Higher Institute in Antwerp under the direction of A Saverijs, Is Opsomer and Herman Courtens. He was a neo-impressionistic painter of sea and port views. He often worked along the Scheldt and in the South of France, England and Greece. His paintings are imbued with a maritime atmosphere. After being influenced by his teacher I. Opsomer, he developed a strong individual, decorative style with soft and rich colouring. Mentioned in the Belgian art books. International well-known painter. Origin: from an estate from Antwerp. Oil paint on hardboard (18 x 28 cm) in good condition.
