Louis Kalff for Philips, Z Model This modernist lamp was designed by Louis Kalff (1897–1976) and produced by Philips. Due to its design, this lamp is often referred to as a Z model, but the actual name of this model is "Diplomat". The lampshade is made of aluminium and it is varnished with a matte black paint. The matte black colour combines beautifully with the gold colour of the support. The inside of the lampshade has a light colour to increase the reflection of the light. The lamp is marked with the Philips logo, on the lampshade. Original wire switch and Philips plug. Louis Kalff has designed many iconic lamps for Philips. He also was the designer of the world-renowned Philips logo. Besides being a designer, Louis Kalff was also successful as an architect. His architectural masterpiece is the "Evoluon" exhibition centre which was realised in Eindhoven in 1966.
