The Warrior Achilles is one of the greatest heroes of Greek mythology from the Trojan war. According to legend Achilles was extremely strong, courageous and loyal, but he had a vulnerability - his "Achilles heel." Homer describes the hero as the most handsome, the bravest, strongest, and most exalted of all heroes. Later legends (Statius) describe that Achilles was only vulnerable in his heel. This meant his death, he died by a poisonous arrow that hit him in his heel. The term Achilles heel can be traced back to this story. This is a beautiful specimen of the Greek Warrior Achilles in solid copper with spear and shield on a marble base with a copper nameplate "Achilleas". Very detailed and nicely finished.
