Luigi Rocca (1952) - Reclining Lady

Luigi Rocca, one of the most prestigious exponents of figure and landscape painting, was born in Porpetto (Udine) on December 26, 1952. He lives and works in Turin. His first impact on the world of painting goes back to 1965 when he participated in an international competition in Venice and was awarded the first prize. This was a decisive turning point in his young life. In 1966, under pressure from his family, he undertook scientific studies, without conviction, for the call of art was making itself irresistible. The next year he registered at the state school of art of Venice. In 1968 the family moved to Turin where he attended the Liceo Artistico and received the degree of Maturita Artistica. From 1969 to 1973 there was an unbroken succession of prizes and recognition. In 1979 he had a one-man show and won the "Rampant Lion", a recognition of prestige for Italian and foreign artists. In 1980 he was awarded the trophy "Golden Lion, 1980" and was granted the title of academician and in the same year received the award for "Painter of the Year." Since then he has had a myriad of successful international shows and his fame has spread throughout Europe and the Americas. He is a champion of romantic realism.
