A complete, stylised designed chess game
The first set of chess pieces consists of mirrored, polished bronze.
The second set, also of bronze, has a blue patina.
The tallest chess piece measures 18.4 cm.
The smallest measures 5.4 cm.
The chessboard consists of a thick mirrored glass and measures 44 x 44 cm.
Each chessboard square therefore measures 5.5 x 5.5 cm. The "white", opaque squares feel sandy. The "black" squares consist of the untreated mirror glass.
The wooden frame measures 53 x 53 cm and is 6.3 cm high.
This chess game is a well-known multiple by Emiel De Block. It is not signed and the edition is unknown.
Works of the sculptor were purchased both by the Ministry of the Flemish Community and by the province of East Flanders. Works of De Block are also located in numerous art collections at home and abroad.
The chess game is in a very good condition, the glass board is in an almost perfect condition.
