Giovanni Ospitali - Florence

Giovanni Ospitali Bologna Italy 1927-2016. In 1949 he moved to Florence, where he attended local art circles, refining technique and craft. In the decade 1950-1960 the production is almost totally absorbed by foreign markets (with prevalence for the United States of America and Canada). The "SAF" Company (Florentine Artistic Prints) has for a long time overseen the diffusion in Italy and abroad of "reproductions" of its watercolors. His watercolor is detached from the mass for a particular characteristic, based on the timbral and ringing vibration of the colors. He likes to take the beloved Florence, Paris, Naples and everywhere his gaze has settled to celebrate a place worthy of being immortalized. He has held thirty personal exhibitions since 1975 to date and forty group exhibitions. Antonio De Bono (Critic of art and journalist) writes: Florentine painter, he knew very well how to lift Tuscan watercolor, Above all it is timbre, warm, passionate, to convey to the user the atmosphere, cheerful, sparkling of the Florentine environment. It highlights ancient alleys, arcades, archivolts and towers with imaginative imagination. It gives impetus to the vibrant tones of fresh spiritual energies. Condensates the warm spring air in substantial shades that open onto the skies of mystical intoxication, tinged with poetic exultations on the old walls of medieval houses and palaces. There is the patina of time in your watercolor, the mood of ancient stones is captured, the Tuscan flavor of the old village, of the local market, of the cathedral that dominates sovereign between Gothic and Renaissance. A painter with a happy, exuberant, compendiary brushstroke, narrator of immediate scenes at the Chekhov and Goldoni. The figures he introduces into his watercolors are spontaneous, have a vital charge, harbor a darting and cheerful dynamism, which accords with the network of lines exalted in the architecture of the things that form and frame the historical center. In some photos you can see slight red reflections caused by the light of the camera during the shooting the painting comes from a personal collection
