Wikipedia.
The Aztec calendar is the calendar system that was used by the Aztec people and other pre-Columbian inhabitants of Central Mexico.
The calendar has a 365 cycle for the year named Xiuhpohualli (year counting) and a 260 day cycle for rituals named Yonalpohualli (day counting).
These two cycles together formed a 52 year long century, sometimes also called a round calendar.
The calendar year began with the first appearance of Pleiades (stars in the Taurus constellation) in the east just before dawn.
Anthropologists called this stone the ‘Sunstone’, for the god Tonatuih, Who can be seen in the middle of the stone.
