In excellent condition - framed behind glass - with mat. Registered and insured shipment. Dirk Baksteen was born in Rotterdam in 1886 and died in Antwerp in 1971. Dirk Baksteen is best known as a painter, etcher and printmaker. Baksteen received training at the academies of Rotterdam and Antwerp. From 1912 to 1944 Dirk lived in Mol where he was close friends with painter Jakob Smits who also had influence on him. Many of his work show the Kempen as well, such as this etching of a Kempen farmhouse. In 1932 Dirk acquired the Belgian nationality.
