Angelo Liberati was born in Frascati on June 2, 1946. In Rome, in the early 1960s, he attended the Municipal School of Ornamental Arts and then the studio of the Italo-Argentine artist Silvio Benedetto. In 1970 he moved to Sardinia, where, in contact with the island's neo-avant-garde, he developed a neo-figurative poetic, sensitive to the experiences of Pop Art; The relationship with Renzo Vespignani, with whom he formed an important friendship that lasted until the death of the Roman artist, was also very important for his research.
In the early 1970s he began to be interested in the fusion between painting, cinema and music, creating the first series of works inspired by the film “Last Tango in Paris” by Bertolucci. The reflection on the themes of cinema continues in the 80s and 90s, with works dedicated to Visconti and Antonioni, while in the same years, he developed a series of works inspired by the Bob Dylan’s songs.
