Walter Cole Brigham - Mother of pearl lampshade (3) - Copper, Mother of pearl

The use of Capiz shells (mother of pearl) instead of stained glass was introduced around 1910 by the Long Island artist Walter Cole Brigham (1870-1941). He developed the so-called copper foil soldering technique and followed the tradition developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) around 1900. The French pendant lamp on offer here closely follows the design of Brigham and has dozens of handmade mother of pearl panes. They create a most romantic and atmospheric spreading of the light.
