Antonio De Vity - Venezia - Ponte di Rialto -

Antonio De Vity - Venice - Ponte Di Rialto - Oil on canvas, signed and stamped. A beautiful work by master Antonio De Vity (1901-1993). The work, recently cleaned and in very good conditions, is an oil painting on canvas measuring 50x70 cm without frame and 65x85 cm with the frame, which is included in the sale. In this painting, the artist managed to crystallize on the canvas a marvellous picture of Venice in the early years of the century, when on the Canalgrande, gondolas were really the means of transport that most represented the city. It probably dates back to the half of the century. It is signed by the artist, while on the back there is the stamp of the Devity Art Studio, imprinted by the artist on almost all of his works Umberto Marone, aka Antonio de Vity, was born in Naples in 1901, but he has always been in love with Paris, his grandmother's native city, where he spent a few years studying with Giacomo Balla and Antoine Blanchard. In these years he attended "the Ecole des Beaux Arts", and fell in love with those places, which often became part of his works. It is from that very moment that he began to use the pseudonym of Antonio De Vity. Returning to Naples in 1950, he founded a school, which became famous as an art studio for many southern artists, and he also exhibited his works in important international cities. We remember Brussels in 1953 and Madrid in 1956.
