Brick tea is a very old Chinese product which was already written about in 500 A.D.
With a Chinese image on the front and sixteen equal compartments on the back.
In the past, pieces of a brick like this were used as currency.
The tea which was pressed into the shape of a brick could easily be transport, e.g. by camel through Mongolia.
