Johannes Leonard (Jan) Kleintjes (Rotterdam, 24th of May 1872 - Heerde, 2nd of May, 1955) was a Dutch painter. He spent part of his childhood in Berlin, but also stayed regularly at a boarding school in Baarn during that period. Kleintjes was educated from 1891 to 1894 at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. In 1904 he had a large studio built. Kleintjes focused on painting genre and figure scenes and cityscapes. Work by Kleintjes was regularly exhibited. He was a member of the art societies Arti et Amicitiae and Sint Lucas in Amsterdam and of the Haagse Kunstkring. In 1903 he was awarded the Willink van Collen award. Work by Kleintjes can be found in numerous collections of museums. This work comes from a private collection.
