Very nice medal of the order of Leopold II, class of Commander, military title. Order founded in 1900 by the King of Belgium Leopold II, also King of Congo. It is intended to reward acts of merit against the King or the Royal House. The order of Leopold II includes 5 classes: Grand Cross, Grand-Officer, Commander (proposed here), Officer and Knight. The Royal Decree of 24 October 1951 on the use of languages in decorations had the effect of replacing the unilingual motto with a bilingual motto ‘L’ Union fait la force – Eendracht maakt macht’.
