The two masks are a very special used topeng masks of one of the princes of the Kraton (palace) from Solo (Surakarta) which represented a dance group in the Netherlands and the USA for many years. The masks are classic and carved from a good wood type. The characters are far from common. The one represents a nobleman of high origin and the other a somewhat feuding character. Also look at the inside of the masks. There you can see a piece of leather What is clamped between the teeth during the dance the other mask does not have it. The inside is also marked with T. H. Lohn which was in all probability the owner of the mask. Is made by Saliman Radi. Dated from the 60s. The mask is very finely carved (see the pictures) and of very good quality. No damage can be seen in spite of the use of the white mask and the damage to the other users.
