A yoke is a wooden beam, with a particular form, which is worn across the shoulders to carry a load. At either end there is a hook or a notch that can be attached to a rope or a chain on which a basket or a bucket can be hung. The traditional image in the Netherlands is of a yoke with two buckets of water attached to the hooks. These yokes are still used in Asia, for example in the rural areas for the harvest and in the cities for mobile traders. Has minor old damage from wood-worm. It has been given extra treatment.
