Beautiful thuya pendulum from the 1930s with a lemon tree inlay and rosewood filet, a quarter repeater, an oval silver-plated dial with the inscription: ‘La Pendastrava - Dispositif breveté S.G.D.G. - Marque et modèle déposés’. It is equipped with a coin-box which, in order to operate every day, requires a 2 Francs coin inserted in a slit located above which has since been covered by a plate with the inscription ‘Pendule Diamant’. This way, the client used to save little by little a sum of money which was regularly collected by the insurance company ‘Le Travail’, which, offered life insurance in exchange. After one year of payments, the insured could stop all payments and still keep the pendulum. Why the name ‘Pendastrava’? It simply stands for: ‘PENdule D'ASsurance TRAVAil’ !
