Trio of glass Empoli. One vase, one bowl and one candy jar. The candy bjar fondly referred to as “Circus Tent” today, follows this retro style which was popular in the 1950’s to early 1960’s. Cased purple textured glass with opaline foot. Unusual design. Large size so imposing. Hand blown with attached white opaline stem.  Colour is a mauve, aubergine, one of thehe most difficult hue to find in Empoli. In perfect condition, any signs of imperfection are due to the glass being handblown (nothing on the outside). Made by Empoli Glass in the 1940’s-1950’s, operating in the city of Empoli, near Florence Italy since the 1200’s. Gio Ponti, a major Italian designer of the time, used Empoli glass. The opaline glass resembling milk glass is a vintage decorative glass which is more popular today. LARGE. Measures 33cm tall (vase and candy jar) and 24 (the bowl).
