Marinus Cornelis Thomas Vermeulen was born in Tilburg on 19 January 1868 and died in Amsterdam on 26 March 1941. Vermeulen studied at the Rijksinstituut tot Opleiding van Tekenleraren (Rijksnormmaalschool) under the guidance of Jan Derk Huibers. He worked in Edam as well as in Amsterdam, Nieuwer-Amstel and Watergraafsmeer as a painter, draughtsman and watercolourist. Also as a professional teacher at a craft school. He is best known for his landscapes, still lives and seascapes. Condition: generally in very good condition. Frame: framed in a wooden ornamental frame. Signed on the bottom left. The painting comes from a private collection.
