It was assigned to the Deutsche Reichsbahn as a construction series E702 and followed other locomotives in this construction series E70, such as the Preußische EC 502 - EC 505 and Preußische EC 507 and EC 508, which were also classified with the DRG as the E70 construction series. Development and operation: The route Salzburg - Freilassing - Berchtesgaden was electrified between 1912 and 1914. The Königlich Bayerischen Staatseisenbahnen (K. Bay. Sts. B) ordered in 1913 for this route a number of pilot locomotives, including the Bayerische EG-2. However, the construction of the locomotive was delayed by the outbreak of the 1st World War. As a result, the supply of the two locomotives took place only in 1920. In 1926, the locomotives were assigned to the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DRG) as a construction series E702 and were assigned the company numbers E70 21 and E70 22. After the 2nd World War, both locomotives ended up at the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB). The locomotives were nicknamed "Bavarian Crocodile". The locomotive is built on two bogies with movable plateaus and buffer beams, however, the front construction above the drives is fixed with the centre case. The drive is made via blind axles and typical triangular coupling rods. Both locomotives were still employed by the Deutsche Bundesbahn until 1950 and 1951 after which they were set aside. Unfortunately all copies of the Bayerische EG 2, are scraped.
