A gorgeous pair of small lions in marble dust and marble, probably a replica of those made by Canova for the monument to Pope Clement XIII between 1783 and 1792, also known as the “sleeping lion” and the “crouching lion”.  Signs of wear are shown in the photos.  These two wild beasts were allegorical figures symbolising strength.  Dimensions: cm. 31 x cm. 11 x cm. 21,5. Each weighing over 10 kg. Ideal to furnish libraries or aristocratic gardens. Items of lawful provenance, found in a 19th century palace. Tracked and insured shipping via GLS or SDA courier.
