Found between Chiclayo and Trujillo, probably Cayaltí or Chepen, Lambayeque, Peru.
Circa 8,0 cm diameter.
Circa 45,0 gram.
Wood, spondylus, turquoise, sodalite, shell and stone inlay.
Stable condition, one ball missing. In original burial condition. Appealing brown burial patina, traces of corrosion, minor hard sediment deposits.

One pair here portrays an Moche wooden earmuffs (Set of 2), D.8,0cm, depicting a Warrior head figure, wearing an elaborate headdress, dating back to circa 200-500 A.D. Carved form wood, with spondylus shell and stone inlay. One ball from the ear spools is missing.
Moche artists worked tiny pieces of highly valued materials such as shell, turquoise, and other blue-green stones into mosaics on the large circular frontals of ear ornaments.
