Henk Bos ( 1901-1979 ) - Stilleven

A beautiful old still life painted on canvas. Size is 45 by 50. Signed Henk Bos 1948. Painting and frame are in good condition. "De Gooische Stilleven-schilder Henk Bos" The painter Henk Bos was born in Huizen in 1901 as the son of a shoemaker's servant. The young Bos developed a great talent for painting still lives in the style of old masters, which he himself admired in the museums and studied through and through. In his time he soon received a lot of recognition for his work in America and was sometimes even called the new Rembrandt from Holland. (Which, of course, he thought was a bit too much honour himself). Various museums such as the Maryhill Museum of Art have included Henk Bos's work in their permanent collection. Much of Henk Bos's work is located in America and still appears in all kinds of galleries there. A few years ago, the Huizer Museum dedicated a large retrospective exhibition especially to the work of this talented painter. On the occasion of this exhibition, they also published a book about his work and his life: "Quiet living”. Henk Bos, master of the still life." Source: Virtueel museum Henk Bos
