This auction is for an inkwell/writing case, which is richly decorated with ornaments and decorative nails made of brass
There are compartments on the inside for the ink and a small bottle for writing sand, as well as a small drawer for a knife, for example, which was used to sharpen the quill. The ink bottle was probably closed with a cork because there is no thread on the neck.
The base is covered with green leather, but it shows quite a bit of damage, just like the fabric on the writing surface. The wood is broken off of the hinge on the lid. (see pictures)
The case is lockable but the key is missing.
