A beautiful signed French Barbizon oil on canvas by Emile Jacque depicting horses before a cottage witha figure in a landscape. The work is signed lower left and unlined in its original frame. A lovely painting by a well collected painter.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Émile Jacque was the elder son of the painter Charles Émile Jacque. He studied with Gérome and took up many of the same themes of his father, but specialised in horses. He received an honourable mention at the Exposition Universelle in 1889, and a third-class medal in 1901.
