Denise Gatard Enamelled black ceramic monogrammed DG DENISE GATARD Denyse GATARD was the oldest sister of famous ceramist Georges JOUVE, she studied at the École d'arts appliqués in Paris. After working in the workshop of Jean DUNAND where she started working with lacquer, she followed her husband to Indochina then Algeria and Morocco where she familiarised herself with earth modelling. After the war, she perfected her techniques by her brother’s side in Paris. She set up a workshop on Rue Guénégaud. Her first pieces look like those of her brother, with lime and pale yellow enamels. Her production also features in the sets of decorator Maurice PRE, her second husband
