“Imperial” was the luxury brand of the Chrysler Cooperation; in 1967, only 577 copies of the convertible version were manufactured, which makes this car a real rarity! The sheet metal and the chrome have a completely different quality than the one usually found in American cars. Many Art Deco elements are incorporated into the visual concept and the design of the interior and the body. Most Imperial Crown convertibles were delivered fully equipped, just like the one offered here, which makes these cars exceptionally comfortable. This is an absolutely wonderful summer cruiser.
The chrome and the interior show only a little patina and are in splendid, nearly mint condition. The inlays in the dashboard, the door panels and the backs of the seats are made of real beech wood.
The car has power windows all around and the convertible hood is electrically operated as well. The hood opens very quickly and, once opened, disappears underneath a pre-fixed tonneau cover.
The vehicle offered here has been in Germany since the year 2000, and it has only been serviced in specialised workshops. It comes with a documentation folder that contains all repair receipts (over €20,000 were invested in this car). The availability of spare parts is good, and they are affordable. There is no rust on this car, the cavities were sealed.
A few weeks ago, the valve cover gaskets were done in order to stop minor oil losses. Valid German inspection (TÜV) until 02/2021.
Furthermore, there are about 150 new and used spare parts that belong to this car, we estimate their value at approx. €3,000 to €4,000.
The air conditioning was disconnected and is out of use, but it can be made operational again, if necessary. The soft plastic dashboard cover is slightly wavy on the driver’s side. The driver’s seat has a small split seam.
The vehicle can be viewed in Hamburg-Winterhude in Germany.
