Double sided shrine of Sekhmet amulet: Sekhmet with and without staff on each side. Sekhmet is a goddess from Egyptian mythology, also known as the Eye of Ra. She is the wife of Ptah, and she was seen by some as the mother of Nefertem. Sekhmet had a lion’s head and was the goddess of retribution, disease and lionesses. In the eyes of the Egyptians, she was a very powerful goddess. Sekhmet symbolized the devastating power of the sun. Her cult took place mainly in Memphis.
