Condition: Very good condition, see description
Dimensions: 3×2.2×72.4 cm

Japanse Nihonto Katana Awataguchi Oumi no kami Tadatsuna (2nd generation)
A masterpiece by the famous Awataguchi Omi kami Tadatsuna (2nd Ikkanshi Tadatsuna)
Mei (signature) Awataguchi Omi kami Tadatsuna
His real name was Asai Mandayu.
Tadatsuna was a master blacksmith in the middle of the Edo period and he even surpassed his father.
The quality of his blades is phenomenal, he was mainly fond of
creating Horimono (an engraving) in the blade.
As is the case with this sword. The details and Kanji are almost magical.
Tadatsuna is one of the best of his generation, an Osaka Shinto master.
The blade has a length of (Nagasa) 72.4 cm.
Curvature (sori): 0.75 cm
Weight: 750 g
The blade is in perfect condition and comes together with an old shirasaya.
Including Japanese registration papers.

We have tried to verify the signature to our best ability, the signature on the sword could not be verified because there is no NBTHK or NTHK origami (certification paper) included with the sword.

To be reasonably sure about the maker of a specific sword, it is necessary to submit the sword to one of the most important Japanese sword study groups (NBTHK or NTHK) for shinsa (inspection). These organisations will judge the sword and draw up documents (origami) describing the authenticity and/or historic value of the sword.

  • Arrived in fine condition. Very attractive and well-preserved, But it was difficult to figure out how to assemble. Looks great once we figured it out. Keyring included as a "presento" is appreciated.
