The colourful illustrated book shows the major social and political events in Berlin in the years 1936-1939: The Olympic Games of 1936, Benito Mussolini's visit in 1937, the big rally on 1 May 1938 at the Olympic Stadium, the burned-out synagogue and destroyed shops after Kristallnacht 1938, the birthday parade in honor of Adolf Hitler 1939 u.v.m.
The introductory text deals critically with the events and creates the required distance and perspective to view the and propaganda of the time. The original photographs are depicted for a better understanding of the events and circumstances, and are thus correctly arranged and in order to make the book a contemporary historical document intended for understanding and comprehension.
This second, again with brilliant and mostly large size colour images of this volume of the three-volume picture work about the imperial capital Berlin continues to outline the described events of the first volume. In this part is the award ceremony for the Reichsberufswettkampf in 1939, the fixed session of the Reichskulturkammer in 1939, the 1st May Day rally in 1939 with formations of the German Labour Front and Hitler as a speaker, the state visit of the Yugoslav Prince Regent and the parade on the occasion of the visit in 1939, the return of the Legion Condor from Spain in 1939, the Stralauer Fischzug - a traditional Berlin folk festival, TV broadcasts from the Funkhaus, the return of the Wehrmacht from France, a flower show at the radio tower in 1940, the funeral for the late Reich Minister of Justice in 1941 and the "Heroes Memorial Day" in 1941. In addition, the photo book shows Berlin’s fascinating local colour with colour photographs of the castle Bellevue, the Reich Propaganda Ministry, the subway, nightlife, inland port, zoo, important buildings u.v.m.

Events from the political struggle of the NSDAP in Berlin, from the assumption of power
of the government under Chancellor Hitler, of the Olympic
Games 1936. It shows the day to day peace of the population as well as the
economic boom and leads the viewer into the newly built
Reich Chancellery. Volume 2 documents among other things, military parades on the occasion of
the State visit of Prince Regent Paul of Yugoslavia and the return
of the Legion Condor from Spain. We receive impressions of the multi-faceted
cultural life of the city and see the first effects of the
wartime bombing. Volume 3 describes the ever more noticeable consequences of the
