Musical box cigarette Machine Vintage Fifties Looks like white bakelite (urea formaldehyde) but is different kind of plastic. Hexagonal spinning cigarette dispenser with built-in music box, made in cream-coloured plastic. The decorations are pressed into the material. Each side has a small door with a holder for the cigarettes. A key at the bottom winds up the music box, which is triggered when the button is pushed on top of the dispenser. The activated mechanism plays a fragment of Johan Strauss; The Emperor Waltz and opens the doors to present the cigarettes. The doors close 23 seconds after opening. The music box mechanism was made by the company Reuge from Sainte-Croix in Switzerland. The machine is marked on the underside; Selcol Made in England. Selcol Products LTD. Operated from 1953 to 1968 as part of Musical & Plastics Industries.
