Rare and lovely Romano-Egyptian mummy mask of a lady made of plaster or stucco over linen; with handsome features and earrings painted in yellow and reddish pigments, the eyes and lashes in black pigment. The wig in raised moulded relief design to simulate the hair. Nice calcite deposits remaining. Some minor repair to wig.
Date: circa 100 AD.
Size: Height 19.5 cms, Width 14.5 cms. Plus custom wood and black metal mount bringing total height to 25 cms.

Purchased by the current owner in 2012 in United Kingdom from Art for Eternity, (Howard M Nowes) New York, USA. Ex old Private French Collection P B A Paris, before that old collection from France.
