Unique copy by using the lost wax (cire perdue) method.
The horse is strongly represented in Dogon mythology and cosmology. The god creator Amma has created a ' living seed ' with 4 elements, it is the foundation of the world. Four pairs of twins, ancestors of men, i.e. the eight Nommo, were then made. After a period of great chaos caused by Ogo, one of the twins, Amma sacrificed the second and then awakened him from death by giving him a human shape. The resurrected Nommo went to earth using an arch that metamorphosed into a horse.
The horse is associated with the Hogon, a religious leader. The Hogon is represented by a horse on rings, or by wooden figurines of riders, or by bronze, cast according to the cire perdue (lost wax) technique.
