Designed in 1967 by the architect and designer Ettore Sottsass, together with Hans Von Klier. The Studio 45 substituted the Olivetti Studio 44 model, which came out in 1952 and was designed by Marcello Nizzoli.
As written in an article published on Domus in 1969, the machine is made in ABS and has a case, also in ABS, in green-blue colour with a green case.
QZERTY keyboard, as is usually the case for Italian machines (except for modern computer keyboards) The keyboard also includes, besides the keys, a space bar, two upper case keys, a fixed upper case key, a return key and a tabulation key.
In 1967 Olivetti substitutes the semi-standard Studio 44 with the new Studio 45. The fifteen years of distance between the two models meant technical improvements and a new design with less rounded lines. The first versions can be recognised by the lettering "Olivetti Studio 45" on the runner, in the following ones the lettering is on the front of the body. The new plastic suitcase makes transporting even easier and more practical.
