Excellent work with two men in trench coat and hat, briefcase and umbrella who are probably on their way home after the working day. Beautifully displayed clouds and a blue stage.
Hans Leijerzapf was born in Leiden in 1951. In 1974 he graduated from the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague with a degree in graphics and painting, and his works are anecdotal figurative. The representation of men with coats on a stage-like elevation suggests that something else must follow: de punchline, the conclusion. Leijerzapf leaves the interpretation to the insight of the viewer. He has his studio in IJsselstein but exhibits throughout the Netherlands in leading galleries. He lives for art and art is his life. Interested as he is in the world and man he gives a self-reflection with humour and self-mockery. He holds up a mirror to the viewer that often makes you laugh.
