Graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat was fascinated by human anatomy from when aged 7 his mother gave him a copy of Grey’s Anatomy. This picture if a complex head/ skull shows both the outside and inside of the head with black stitching type lines, even the background is made up of patches of colour.
Jean-Michel Basquiat is one of the best known artists of his generation and is widely considered one of the most important of the 20th century. His works combine archetypal symbols and writing with invented iconography in compositions that are edgy and raw with a strong sense of color and balance.
