Opel - Super Six - 1937

OPEL SUPER SIX CONVERTIBLE Built in 1937, Dutch car, initial registration 6 June 1939, provincial registration. G13989, from 6 August 1956 Dutch registration UT-36-92, 2nd owner, chassis number 04094, engine number: 37-2453. I have owned it since 1964. It stood in the garage until 2010. I then started the restoration and completed it in April 2013. The car was approved by the Dutch Vehicle Authority on 24 April without any comments. The linen registration certificate was preserved. Restoration: Chassis, suitable components and bodywork with various plates were sand-blasted and treated with an epoxy primer. Various plates and all the woodwork in the body and the doors has been renewed. The chassis with all its components and the body with the remaining plates were all repainted. The blasting and treating with primer was done by a specialised company and the complete paint job was done by a car body workshop. All usable nuts and bolts were re-galvanised as well as the rod systems, etc. Brake components no longer usable were replaced, clutch plate and pressure bearing, wheel bearings, seals and rubbers, the steering has the necessary new parts. The engine has been completely overhauled by a professional overhaul company, the cylinders were bored and new pistons were fitted, the crankshaft was polished and new bearings and a crankshaft seal were fitted. The cylinder head includes new valves, conductors and valve seats, it has been adapted for unleaded petrol. A completely new stainless steel exhaust was mounted. The electrical wiring was completely renewed. In addition, all the necessary lighting components have been renewed. The entire upholstery with panels has been completely renewed, partly leather. Convertible top with headliner completely renewed. The new bumpers and the grille are made of stainless steel, new hub caps are made of brass/chrome-plated and all the other parts have been re-chromed. The car can be viewed, test drive available, there’s a series of photos, invoices and other documentation ready for inspection. There’s a full report in the monthly magazine Auto Motor Klassiek no. 2 from February 2015. The Opel is in competition condition. The car can be viewed and picked up in Drachten, the Netherlands.
