A very nice bronze sculpture depicting Lorenzo de Medici dressed in his kit. The sculpture was made by the famous Ferdinand Barbedienne foundry in Paris after the example of Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564). The original was part of a tomb that this famous Italian artist made between 1520 and 1534 for Lorenzo de Medici, Duke of Urbino. It also has the stamp of Achille Collas (1795 – 1859).
Lorenzo (1449-1492) was one of the most influential and famous members of the De' Medici family. He was the son of Piero de' Medici and ruled the Florentine Republic during the peak of the Italian renaissance.
