Oil on board from the early 20th century by the master Gino Marzocchi, signed in full, which indicates that the work belong to his first period and is therefore much rarer. A high-quality painting, with contemporary frame.

Gino Marzocchi was born in Molinella on February 8, 1895. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna with Augusto Majani, Domenico Ferri and Enrico Barberi. In 1927 he participated in the National Retirement Competition of Figure, where he finished second. He exhibited his works at the Venice Biennials of 1930, 1932 and 1934 and at four Roman Quadrennials. He was present at the Barcelona International Art Exhibition in 1929, at the Paris International Exhibition in 1937 and he won numerous competitions. In 1938 he held a solo exhibition at Cenacolo Francesco Francia. He was a professor at the Art School of Ferrara from 1934 to 1944, teaching drawn and painted figures. An exceptional draughtsman, painter and portrait painter, his character and his remarkable skills aligned him with Impressionism. His impressionism is very particular, full of verve as well as fast, soft, non-calligraphic and static traits. He was a gentle pastelist full of humour, devoted to satire and irony with ease. In 1962 the association ‘Il circo delle arti’ was founded in Bologna which included, in addition to Marzocchi, Alessandro Cervellati, Alberto Menarini, Athos Vianelli, Ugo Guidi. He died in Bologna in 1981.

  • Watch arrived with no battery and the case back held on with a piece of tape. Now don’t know if it works or not or if still waterproof. Just not a good experience all the way around.
