Jan Hovener, the Rotterdam painter.
The Rotterdam painter Jan Hovener was born on 14 August 1936 in the shadow of the Feyenoord stadium. After his studies at the Rotterdam Academy, he won the Talens prize at a young age (1959). Since then, his great talent has not gone unnoticed. To his great surprise, Willem Sandberg, director of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, was struck by a self-portrait in which he was able to express his passion for painting. He wrote about the self-portrait of Hovener, as someone with skill and incredible vision.
