Eucrite Meteorite. Brecciated stone from asteroid Vesta - 107 g
Eucrites are a rare type of meteorite that come from Asteroid Vesta. It is in the asteroid belt, between Mars and Jupiter. It orbits the Sun with a period of 3.6 Earth years and has a diameter of 525 kilometres. A great impact occurred in the South hemisphere of Vesta less than 1 billion years ago, ejecting rocks from the asteroid into space. Eventually some of these rocks fell on Earth.
For auction a great eucrite meteorite recently found in Northwest Africa and bought to a Moroccan dealer in 2018 in Guelmim. It is a fresh meteorite with glossy fusion crust, typical in eucrites. As can be seen in the matrix, the texture is breacciated, with sharpe-angled fragments of other broken rocks.
Weight is 107 grams.
