Tilly Moes (1899-1979) - Bloemen en fruit stilleven

Tilly Moes was the pseudonym for Sofia (Fia) Theordora van Driel, born in Dusseldorf in 1899. She was the daughter of Johannes Gerardus van Driel and Sophia Adriana van Lammeren. Until her marriage with the artist Nicolaas Bruijnesteijn she lived with her parents in the Hague, where she visited the drawing Academy. In her pre-marital period (until 1927) she painted "antique" still life: complicated dark-looking work with lots of fruits and flowers under the pseudonym "Tilly Moes". In addition, however, she had a desk job to support herself. They married in 1927 in the Hague and moved shortly thereafter to the Gooi. In the period up to 1939, she moved frequently, especially within the Gooi and Vecht region; Blaricum, Laren, Eemnes, Vreeland and Kortehoef. However, they also stayed in Driebergen, Overveen, Oisterwijk, Antwerp and in Romania. The "Tilly Moezen" mainly broke through in The Hague. Edge discoloration due to the frame. Your purchase will be professionally packaged in protective foil with eco-friendly filling material. We always use double thick cardboard boxes in order to protect your purchase. Will be sent by PostNL. Buyer receives a T&T code. All shipments will be sent by registered and insured mail.
