Ancient and rare Coat of arms Symbol of the Congregation of the Passionists circa 1840 - Ebony - First half 19th century
Rare Coat of arms symbol of the Passionist Congregation, dating back to around 1840 and kept by my family for several generations. It is in the shape of a heart, surmounted by a cross, at the centre the words "JESUS XPI PASSIO" stand out. There are also the pontifical symbol and the three nails of the Cross of Christ. The heart is made of ebony wood, covered with a thin layer of wool fabric, the writings and other symbols are in a precious material. Equipped with a brass brooch to pin it to the dress.
The coat of arms, given its age, is to be considered in good condition. Original patina. A few bits are missing on the edge of the heart, and the fabric is worn out in some parts. Natural yellowing of the writings and symbols’ material.
