cornucopia - Bronze (gilt), Horn - Early 20th century

Beautiful Horn of Plenty, or in Latin the Cornucopia (Latin cornu (horn) and copia (stock)). This legendary object, which (as the name suggests) offered abundance, originally stems from Greek mythology. According to the myth, the Cornucopia is the horn of the goat Amalthea (which is in the handle) that nursed Zeus on Crete. By way of thanks, Zeus put her in the sky as a constellation and her horn granted the holder of it everything he or she desired. Horn is lavishly decorated with ornate bronze decorations and a handle to carry the horn. It is a heavy piece of about 40 cm wide and 45 cm high. Grapes have been added as decorations, will be included with the horn but do not belong to the original piece. For a correct impression, please see the photos, which are part of the description.
