No. 29529625
Old ship pump / water pump - Brass - First half 20th century
An old ship's pump / water pump supposedly from England.
A copper plate is placed on the pump with the following text:
"HMS Hercules
Any seamen returning from shore
leave in a drunk and disorderly fashion
will forfeit 7 days grog ration
by order captain P. Howlett RV
January 1850"
I do not suspect that the pump comes from 1850, but that it is a reference to the ship Hercules from 1850.
It is beautiful in a nautical interior and is probably still fine to use as pump.
With fastening supports make the pump easy to hang.
The photos are part of the description.
The ship pump will be carefully packed and will be sent by insured and registered mail with Track & Trace.
