A real one of a kind and in very good condition a Pickelhaube Jaeger Zu Pferde helmet. A Cavalry "Jäger zu Pferde" Lobster Tail Pickelhaube - This pickelhaube has a basic three-piece construction: helmet, visor and extended rear protective neck guard. It is fabricated from steel with a black painted finish, magnetic, with silvered steel fittings, which includes the spike (with five ventilation holes) and spike mounting base (with four points, held in place by four large capped rivets). The front comes with a visor designed with a turned-up lip, held in place by large capped rivets on either end and a central rivet. There is a three-colour cockade of Imperial Germany on the right side and a black and white cockade of Prussia on the left side, with original pins connecting to the replacement leather chin strap, with central buckle for adjustment. The helmet plate is silvered die-stamped metal with the Prussian eagle insignia. The underside of the visor is painted in green. The rear neck guard protrudes outwards, away from the body in the traditional "lobster tail" design, with a reinforced steel underside, All original and untouched, makers mark on the inside. This is the field type used during the war. Complete of chinstrap and cockardes. Liner still present but partially detached from the shell, very dry, it reflects the combat use for sure.
The helmet will be sent in a professional packaging to preserve it during the despatch.
