From a private collection of 6 original plates:
A) Two rare hand-coloured copper engravings by Frederick Polydore Nodder and his son Richard Nodder from "The Naturalist's Miscellany". The ‘Goudvink’ was signed RN and of son Richard, the ‘IJshoender’ (snowy sheathbill) by father Frederick. The plates measure 22 cm x 15 cm and are in excellent condition.
The work is almost exclusively exhibited in institutes in North America. The work is praised for the delicate and precise observation of the species.

B) Two rare lithographs by John Cassin from the work "Cassin's Illustrations of The Birds of California, Texas, Oregon, and British and Russian America" made in assignment of the US Railroad Company around 1856. The lithographs are in good condition; there is a small corner missing from the top left corner in both plates. The plates are done on stone by E. Hitchcock, coloured by J.T. Bowen (the lithographer of Audubon). The book was released in a small issue and contained only 50 plates.

C) Two beautiful original and large lithographs from John Gould’s monumental book "The Birds of Great Britain", released in parts between 1863 and 1873. The page are 54 x 38 cm and are in excellent condition with nice, bright colours. The common ringed plover and the small plover.
Quote of Gould: "every sky with its varied tints and every feather of each bird were coloured by hand".

See photos for details; will be sent in a sturdy cylinder.
