Antique Handmade Cambodian silver “Betel” box. Both the box and the lid are very nicely made and lavishly decorated with detailed leaf and floral motifs. Made around the turn of the century according to the traditional Khmer silverware method. Each box is hand-shaped and then hammered by hand in relief on metal. These boxes were traditionally used to store Betel leaves, nuts, tobacco and/or ointments. Is nicely fully hallmarked and features silver hallmark 90, which stands for 90% silver, and a maker’s mark. The box has a diameter of 3.8 cm and the height is 2.5 cm. The box has a weight of 25.4 grams. The lot is in an exceptionally beautiful condition without dents. Box is a striking and particularly decorative object due to its lavish tooling. Will be shipped by registered post.
