Opthalmometer or keratometer formerly used in ophthalmology, created by F.A. Hardly and co., U.S.A. production date from around 1910.
Used to determine astigmatism of the eyepiece, by means of a beam of light on the cornea the deviation is visible and can be read off on the device so that custom glasses can be made.
The device is very well made, there is not cut back on a piece of copper and cast iron is used where necessary which can be felt in the weight of the instrument.
